“This has been a year of progress and planning, during which we’ve reflected on our success during the first five years of Plan A to help us define our vision for the next five years and beyond.”

Plan A at a glance

Plan A in brief

In our stores, we provide healthier, more sustainable food, that contains no artificial colours, flavourings, or hydrogenated fats.

Behind the scenes, we’re working with efficient, resilient suppliers to achieve social and environmental sustainability in our sourcing of foods.

We believe in less waste and more recycling

Our Shwopping scheme encourages customers to donate unwanted clothing to Oxfam to be resold, reused or recycled.

Everything we do is designed with a smaller footprint in mind; our stores, offices, warehouses and delivery fleets in the UK and Republic of Ireland send zero waste to landfill, and are carbon neutral.

Plan A is about helping people and communities

Our Big Beach Clean-Ups bring M&S customers and employees together to clean beaches, rivers and canals across the UK. Our Marks & Start initiative provides work experience in disadvantaged parts of the community.

We help many good causes through local fundraising and in-store events with Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Being a shareholder can mean dealing with a lot of paperwork, like annual reports and notices of company meetings. Needless to say, this uses up a lot paper which can be both wasteful and inconvenient.
